Some patients are prescribed CPAP therapy but struggle with comfort, mask fit, dryness, claustrophobia, travel limitations, or consistent use. For patients who are unable to tolerate CPAP or are looking for an alternative, oral appliance therapy may be an option depending on their diagnosis and physician recommendations.
This consultation is designed to help patients understand their choices and coordinate care with their sleep physician.
Our goal is to help patients find a treatment path they can successfully use and maintain.
CPAP Alternative & CPAP Support Consultation
-
Patients should bring their sleep study results, CPAP prescription, CPAP usage information if available, and details about what has made CPAP difficult.
-
We will review the patient’s sleep diagnosis, symptoms, CPAP concerns, dental health, airway anatomy, and whether oral appliance therapy may be appropriate.
-
If the patient appears to be a candidate, we will coordinate next steps. This may include communication with the sleep physician, medical insurance review, oral appliance records, and treatment planning.
