Personalized Appliance Selection
One of the things that makes Meadowlark Airway & Wellness different is our personalized approach to appliance selection. We do not believe every patient should receive the exact same appliance.
There are many different types of oral sleep appliances, and each design has different features, advantages, limitations, and ideal use cases. The appliance that works well for one patient may not be the best fit for another.
We take time to evaluate the full picture before making a recommendation. This may include the patient’s airway anatomy, dental condition, bite, jaw joints, tongue space, clenching or grinding patterns, sleep study results, comfort concerns, lifestyle, and treatment goals.
The goal is to select an appliance that is thoughtfully matched to the individual patient, rather than forcing the patient into a one-size-fits-all device.
-
Patients will complete a comprehensive evaluation to help determine which appliance style may be most appropriate. This may include photos, scans, bite records, airway screening, joint evaluation, and review of sleep study findings.
-
We will explain why a specific appliance design is being recommended and how it is intended to support the patient’s airway, comfort, and long-term function.
-
The selected appliance is custom-made for the patient. Once delivered, it may be adjusted gradually over time based on comfort, symptoms, jaw position, and treatment response.
